Broecker and colleagues (40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47 and 48) have suggested that global deep water conveyor belt flow may be a prime driver of these changes, and hence there is significant effort directed at establishing deep water changes at high temporal resolution within an accurate time scale.
