Fundamentalism is a style of thought in which certain principles are recognized as essential ‘truths’ that have unchallengeable and overriding authority, regardless of their content. Democrats believe that abortion should not be illegal. The honest ones admit there was a uniformity of outlook in which the horse race is over-covered and the issues under covered. The largest gap between Americans and East Asians in the personal values/qualities list was in how each group scored "respect for learning" and "obedience to parents" (although the latter was not high with either group). Marx and Engels, who together had founded the Social Democratic Workers' Party of Germany in 1869, were also responsible for setting up the Second International (or Socialist International) in 1889, as the ideas of Socialism gained new adherents, especially in Central Europe, and just before his death in 1895, Engels boasted of a "single great international army of socialists".

His theory not only offers profound and novel insights into the character of the legal system in modern society, but also provides an explanation for the role of jurisprudence as part of that legal system. A Resolution of the Mind—Radical Enlightenment and the Intellectual Origins of Modern Democracy. Later used in a sense "impractical theorizing" (1813). I’m fascinated by how Lincoln handled the entire thing so skillfully. Rarely has a work with such intimidating scholarly pretentions exerted such radical and liberating influence in the culture.
